Data Storage Terms

December 31st, 2009 by admin

You might have heard some of these data storage terms without knowing to what they referred. One thing you might have heard before is accessibility. For example, there is random access, which lets you access any part of the data storage in the same time frame. Alternatively, there is sequential access, which only lets you access the data in a serial order.

Another term for you to be familiar with is addressability. Units are filed in three different types of memory addresses, specifically, by location, file or content. Though these are only two terms of data storage, they can help you get off to the right start when you are trying to know more about the system.
