The term business intelligence was it seems first used back in the late 1950′s but now it is a whole industry sector in its own right. I found this Google Know on Business Intelligence very interesting indeed. It tells of the history and the ways in which BI can be used to help a business. It even helps you understand how to tell if a business needs BI in the first place and as importantly, what you have to do to make sure that a BI implementation will work. Details of the different types of software avaialable are also given.
