If you are in search for a cheaper alternative to texture your ceiling, a topping compound would do. This is because they can be mixed with a little amount of water and combine to achieve a thinner consistency. How to texture a ceiling is a simple thing to do. Now, continue mixing until smooth then use a thick nap paint roller and roll about one fourth portion of the room. Make sure to go in one direction and never go back and forth. In case the texture does not take, use a little more water. After the texture application, roll it across the area in opposite direction where texture is applied. This is to ensure even coverage. Then it is time to apply the pattern of your choice.
